Frugal

According to the online use of Webster’s dictionary, frugal means “ economy in the use of resources.”  I don’t disagree, but I want to extend the definition.  Everyone should have a vision for their life.  Your vision, when clearly stated, will help you determine where to put your resources.  So, I want to extend the meaning of frugal to mean focusing one’s resources to support one’s life vision.

Frugal does not mean cheap.  Frugal, as I’ve extended its definition, is all about focus not about price.  A $100 pair of Rockport shoes may be frugal if you like to walk and they last longer then several pairs of low-priced PayLess shoes.  If the vision for your life is to travel the world then why not buy paper plates instead of fine china?  Frugal means spending more time at the library so you can upgrade your skills, get a better job, so you’ll have the money to travel the world.

If it doesn’t support your vision it is not frugal.  If you can get rid of it.
